HON. ROWLAND CHARLES SEKIBO IS IN THE RANK OF THE FEW EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMEN IN RIVERS STATE, SAYS DR. TAMMY DANAGOGO
Dr. Tammy Danagogo, Secretary to the Rivers State Government, has commended the effort of Hon. Rowland Charles Sekibo, Executive Chairman of Akuku-Toru LGA, for setting a track record of good governance to people of his constituents inline with the vision of His Excellency, Chief (Barr.) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike CON, GSSRS, POS-Africa, Governor of Rivers State in the delivery of people's oriented and socioeconomic projects.
Dr. Tammy Danagogo who was interviewed by pressmen on Friday 29th January, 2021 during his inspection visit to the Akulga Stadium in company of Hon. Boma Goodhead, member, Federal House of Representative for Akulga/Asalga Federal Constituency, to assess the finishing and quality of project executed by Hon. Rowland Charles Sekibo, Executive Chairman of AKULGA, said:
"I have been a local government Chairman in this Local Government and this is one Local Government Area where I know that, doing project is very difficult. It's so, due to security challenges considering our terrain where we share boundary with Bayelsa State on the Riverine coastal flank; the gulf of ginuea which has its natural challenges.
"Another fact is that, the local government itself, provides electricity for the people unlike other local governments such as Port-Harcourt and other Areas where NEPA provides electricity and the people pays their bills but here in Akuku-Toru, it's the Council that pays the bills which runs into millions of naira, monthly.
"So, to do all that and be able to provide security and execute such monumental project, its a wonderful level of performance considering its direct impact on the people.
"He's in the rank of the few exceptionally good Local Government Chairmen who have tried to emulate the examples of His Excellency, Chief (Barr.) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike CON, GSSRS, POS-Africa, Governor of Rivers State."
Dr. Tammy Danagogo, further called on other Local Government Chairmen to support the vision of the historic Governor of Rivers State, Chief (Barr.) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike who has prioritized the interest of Rivers people and placed them first above all in his numerous monumental projects across the State:
"Everywhere you go in the State, you will see the signature of His Excellency: That is very commendable. We have always expected both the Federal and Local Governments to compliment the efforts of the Rivers State Governor in transforming the State.
"We find ourselves in a situation where the Governor is doing everything, so the local government must rise up to that challenge, knowing that the responsibility of developing the State falls on the State and them at least in their respective areas. So, that's why I am very impressed that Hon. Rowland Charles Sekibo has done this inline with the vision of His Excellency.
"The other time we went to Ikwerre local government, we saw what the Chairman did. I hope, other Chairmen in the State will do such things and also invite us to come for inspection, so that at least, we will know that the example of the Governor is been followed.
"In this State, whether you like the Governor or you don't like him personally, once you drive through Rivers State, you can't deny the fact that he's performing." he added
While reiterating the Governor's statement of giving support to Chairmen who has performed clearly and creditably, he said that with what Hon. Rowland Charles Sekibo has done in the LGA, even those dreaming to take over from him, they will ask themselves pertinent questions because if they have conscience and eyes, they will ask:
"This man, does he not deserve to stay and continue with this performance, if legally it's possible for him to do so?"
Hon. Boma Goodhead, member, Federal House of Representative who's representing Akulga/Asalga Federal Constituency, said that she's satisfied with the performance of the Hon. Rowland Charles Sekibo's administration.
Also, she called on the female folks to seize this opportunity to harness their potentials in the sporting and games profession: "Here lies greater opportunities for the girl child. Sports and games are gender inclusive. Therefore, the girl child shouldn't feel intimidated rather she should be courageous to showcase her talent to the World.
"Since inception our women are known for their industriousness and this generation of Girls should not be exceptional. In order not to be victims of social vices, our girls should explore this opportunity and engage in profit making businesses which comes as benefits for having such socioeconomic edifice that contains shops which will boost the economy of the LGA.
"Together, we can make Akulga, ABONNEMA in particular a hub for commercial activities." she said
